To provide an electronic data using apparatus preventing a user receiving distribution of electronic data on the basis of a legitimate usage agreement from fraudulently reusing the electronic data for a third party not agreeing to the legitimate usage agreement without permission of a seller when distributing the electronic data such as selling software.
The electronic data are distributed by using the copyright protecting function integrated medium having a protected region which can be accessed only by an electronic data using apparatus successful in authentication. When the user tries to use the electronic data in regard to the electronic data using apparatus, the electronic data using apparatus reads from the protected region of the medium, and it uses the electronic data only when no inherent ID of another electronic data using apparatus is written. After usage, an inherent ID of the electronic data using apparatus is written.
