PURPOSE: To provide a web-drying device which can efficiently be operated and can easily thread the web of paper.

CONSTITUTION: This apparatus for drying a web has the first dryer section means 16, the second dryer section means 22, and the dryer transfer means 25 for transferring the web 12 without open draw between the first and second dryer section means 16 and 22. The first dryer section means 16 comprises plural dryer cylinders which are arranged in one row and used for drying one surface of the paper web, plural vacuum rolls which are disposed close to the drying cylinders, and felts which travel around the drying cylinders and the vacuum rolls. The second dryer section means 22 comprises plural other dryer cylinders which are arranged in one row and used for drying the other surface of the paper web, plural other vacuum rolls which are disposed close to the other drying cylinders, and other felts which travel around the other drying cylinders and the other vacuum rolls.
