To achieve superior characteristics of guiding and discharging waste ink without the ink left staying, and to prevent ink smudging of a material to be recorded as a result of contact with a recording head caused by unprepared floating of a waste ink guiding and discharging member.
A waste ink guiding and discharging apparatus 1 comprises communication parts 38 set at both end parts in a longitudinal direction of the waste ink guiding and discharging member 33. The communication part 38 is bent to the side of a waste ink absorbing body part 32. A gap G is formed between the communication part 38 and at least one inner wall face 34 in the longitudinal direction of a waste ink dumping recess 31. Moreover, a projecting part 39 is formed at least in one of the both end parts in the longitudinal direction of the waste ink guiding and discharging member 33. The projecting part 39 is hung on a supporting step 35 formed on the inner wall face 34 to traverse the gap G.
