Abstract:
PURPOSE: To automatically adjust the floating state of a web by controlling with control means the actual floating height of a web at a set floating height, the actual tension of the web at a set tension and the actual nozzle air velocity of the web at a set nozzle air velocity.
CONSTITUTION: Upper nozzles 24 and lower nozzles 26 are arranged in a chamber 12 in zigzags and web (W) is made to run in a floating state at a constant velocity. Air stream is caused by fans 20, 22 and is sent to an upper duct 34b and a lower duct 48a. Hot air is blown onto top and bottom faces of the running web (W) through the upper nozzles 24 and the lower nozzles 26. A control device regulates the rotation speed of a fan motor to control the velocity of the nozzle wind blown from the upper nozzles 24 and the lower nozzles 26, and tension induced in the web is controlled by adjusting a suction roller 56 and a tension-adjusting roller 58. The nozzle air velocity and the tension are fed back to the control device by using a nozzle wind velocity sensor 64 and a tension sensor 66 respectively.
