PURPOSE: To measure accurately and simply a flash time by detecting variations in pressure, sound or light caused by a flashing point measuring apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid sample 3 is introduced to a main body 1 of the flash point measuring apparatus, and heated by a heater 9 to vaporize the liquid 3 into discharging space 13. Air is supplied to the space 13 from an air supplying apparatus 20 through the liquid 3, the discharge is performed by spark discharging electrodes 14 to cause the flash and a pressure variation in the space 13 caused by the flash is detected by a pressure sensor 18 through a waveguide 19. The flash time can be detected by detecting the variation in sound or light other than the pressure variation. By constituting in such a way, the flash point of petroleum or the like can be detected accurately and simply.
