To provide an apparatus for control of a household electric appliance, capable of facilitating control of a plurality of household digital electric appliances, which are connected using an HDMI-CEC function, with a single remote controller.

A television set 1 and a recorder 2 are connected to each other via an HDMI cable 3 having a CEC control substrate 4 incorporated therein. A remote controller 1a for operating the television set 1 and the recorder 2 is the one which is operated by not infrared ray but ZigBee of short-distance wireless communication standards. With this configuration, when a command signal is transmitted from the remote controller 1a to the CEC control substrate 4, the CEC control substrate 4 converts the received command signal into a DDC/CEC signal corresponding to standards of each manufacturer on the basis of the information of the television set 1 and the recorder 2 which are connected to the HDMI cable 3. Accordingly, if the manufacturer of the television set 1 is different from that of the recorder 2, the CEC control substrate 4 can cause the remote controller 1a to execute a desired operation.
