To effectively utilize a printing data storage means by erasing printing data which doe not have a printing command for a certain determined time or more.
The apparatus for controlling printing includes the printing data storage means for storing received printing data temporarily, a printing data status storage means for storing the status of the printing data, and a printing data status erasing time storage means for storing a time until which the printing data status is not to be erased.
