PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and a method to efficiently and effectively dispense a first liquid into a second reservoir liquid.

CONSTITUTION: An apparatus 10 comprises a container 12 that holds a dispensed liquid 26, a dispensing nozzle 14 and a sensing tube 18. The dispensing nozzle 14 is positioned on the container 12 below the level of the liquid to be dispensed within the container. The sensing tube 18 has first and second open ends 20 and 22, the first open end 20 positioned above the dispensed liquid level 28 and the second open end 22 positioned outside of the container 12 and below the dispensing nozzle 14. The second open end 22 of the sensing tube 18 can be immersed in the reservoir liquid 30, whereby the cyclic (intermittent) fall and rise of the reservoir liquid 32 results in the controlled discharge of the dispensed liquid 26 from the container 12 through the dispensing nozzle. The method comprises the steps of providing a container 12 as described above, locating the container 12 above the reservoir liquid 30, and causing the reservoir liquid to rise and fall to discharge the dispensed liquid 26 from the dispensing nozzle 14.
