To provide a film feed apparatus and a method of feeding a film, capable of removing reliably foreign matters attached on the film due to electrostatic action.
A film feed apparatus 6 for unreeling and feeding a vinyl chlorid film 4 from a roll 36 around which the film 4 is reeled comprises: static electricity eliminating means 30 provided along a path for feeding the film 4 and adapted to eliminate static electricity charged to the film 4; urethane rubber rollers 32 provided rotatably behind the static electricity eliminating means 30 along a direction in which the film 4 is fed, and brought into pressure contact with the film 4 under the electrically charged condition to remove foreign matters adhering to the film 4 therefrom; and gum rollers 34 brought into pressure contact with the urethane rubber rollers 32 to remove the foreign matters therefrom. In this case, static electricity charged to the film 4 is first eliminated, and the urethane rubber rolles 32 are then brought into pressure contact with the film 4 to remove the foreign matters adhering to the film therefrom. At the same time, the gum rollers 34 are brought into pressure contact with the urethane rubber rollers 32 to racover the foreign matters therefrom.
