In the device for forming the thread groove on the metallic tube 1 by pressing the outer peripheral surface of the metallic tube 1 in the direction of the inside diameter of the metallic tube 1 by a pressing member 36, a compressing member 71 for compressing the top part 1A of the metallic tube 1 in the direction parallel to the axial line F of the metallic tube 1 by the cam action of cam members 74, 75 by lowering the elevating/lowering member 30 is provided and the compressive load by this compressing member 71 is made to act on the metallic tube 1 when pressing the metallic tube 1 by the pressing member 36.
