To provide an apparatus and a method for simply inspecting defects of carbon fiber fabric in high precision in high reliability.
The apparatus for inspecting the positions and kinds of defects of a carbon fiber fabric is equipped with a let-off device for moving a carbon fiber fabric, a winder and following means of (a) a lighting means, (b) an image acquisition means, (c) a light shielding means, (d) an image processing means for processing fabric information obtained by digitizing a photographed acquisition image, (e) a memory means for preregistering fabric information as standard information obtained by digitizing a carbon fiber fabric form, (f) a distinguishing means for comparing the fabric information with the standard information and distinguishing presence of fabric defect and the position and kind of defect, (g) an output means and (h) a travel amount detection means for detecting the travel amount of carbon fiber fabric or the travel amount of the image acquisition means which are laid between them.
