To provide an apparatus and a method for processing waste capable of finally processing waste as a slag which is easily treated and which contains a reduced content of heavy metal, particularly lead.
A waste slag recovery apparatus is adapted to include a gassifying furnace 20 for gassifying and combusting waste into a gaseous product a, and a melting furnace 30 in which the gaseous product is heated or combusted in a reducing atmosphere to yield solid components contained in the gaseous product as slag c. In the apparatus there is provided a heating furnace 40 in which the slag is made homogeneous by heating the slag c in the reducing atmosphere, and metal components contained in the slag falling from the melting furnace 30 are reduced and separated.
