PURPOSE: To decrease the fluctuations in surface roughness and to provide a high saturation magnetic flux density and high magnetic permeability in combination and to improve mechanical strength and thermal stability by diagonally disposing the tip of a nozzle so as to face the rear side of a rotating direction with respect to the surface of a cooling roll consisting of an Fe alloy.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling roll 10 is constituted of the alloys of the Fe systems, such as stainless steels and tool steels. The nozzle 20 is disposed in proximity to the peak of the roll 10 and is so provided that its tip inclines to the perpendicular so as to face the rear side of the rotating direction of the roll 10. Accumulation 40 of the melt 30 of the Fe soft magnetic alloy formed between the roll 10 and the nozzle 20 is increased in this way and the strip 50 can be stably drawn out of the accumulation fluctuating less in size. Then, the surface roughness on both surfaces of the strip 50 is diminished and uniformized and the strip adequate for magnetic heads, etc., is obtd.
