To provide an apparatus for removing odors of a compost shed, with which it is possible to remove an unpleasant odor gas generated from a compost fermentor for composting dung and urine of domestic animals, agriculture and forestry waste materials, or residues in food processing, and to provide a method for removing the odors of the compost shed.

In the apparatus for removing the odors of the compost shed, the unpleasant odor gas such as ammonia gas, generated from the compost fermentor 42 is neutralized or masked with a smoke gas by the use of a smoke tube passage through which the smoke gas, containing an organic acid gas generated from a carbonization furnace 1 for producing smoked charcoal from a woody biomass, is passed, and thereafter, the residual unpleasant odor gas contained in air in the chamber is adsorbed and decomposed by fine chips of branches and leaves F, and exhausted as odorless air to the atmosphere. Further, in the method for removing the odors by using the apparatus for adsorbing and decomposing the unpleasant odor gas, the fine chips of branches and leaves F are used as a rapid fermenting agent for composting.
