Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display pictures of a plurality of video signals in areas according to priority and to speedily change an area of display in corresponding to the operation of a user.
SOLUTION: An importance index correspondence part 22 makes importance indexes correspond to respective video signals according to a table α. A correspondence decision part 24 makes respective areas correspond to the respective video signals. A display correspondence part 26 generates a synthetic video signal such that pictures of the respective video signals are displayed in respective corresponding areas and outputs it to a display 2. The display correspondence part 26 deals to an operating information from a display area specification section 29 and generates the synthetic video signal such that a picture of a selected video signal is arranged in a selected area to substitute alternately for a picture arranged in an area selected by the user so far and outputs it to the display 2. This invention is applicable to a device which edits a plurality of video signals, television receivers, etc.
