PURPOSE: To provide the subject apparatus, equipped with at least two mechanisms for moving a cylindrical cloth, with which a core is covered, by a caterpillar rotating while being pressed to an expanded section of the core, to move the cloth uniformly in the longitudinal direction without causing a texture bias or damage of the weft.

CONSTITUTION: This apparatus slides upward a cylindrical cloth, with which a core 4 is covered, over an expanded section 6 of the core 4 by rotating a caterpillar 8 of a pressing device 5 while pressing it to the expanded section 6. At least two pairs of the pressing device 5 and expanded section 6 are arranged alternately in the vertical direction, and the entire outer periphery of the cylindrical cloth is moved by the caterpillar 8 of the pressing device 5 of at least one of the pairs, to move the cloth uniformly in the longitudinal direction without causing a texture bias or damage of the weft.
