PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus having low utility cost, by using a specific catalyst liquid, separating a reaction column into an oxygen-absorption zone and an oxidation reaction zone, supplying air and an unsaturated hydrocarbon to each zone and circulating the catalyst liquid.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen-containing organic compounds is produced by the oxidization of an unsaturated hydrocarbon with oxygen in the presence of a metal complex catalyst comprising a catalyst liquid containing a composite complex consisting of specific complexes capable of forming an oxygen complex and a hydrocarbon complex by the coordination bond with oxygen and the hydrocarbon and optionally containing water. The reaction column 17 is divided into the oxygen-absorption zone 21 to produce an oxygen complex by the absorption of oxygen in said catalyst liquid and the oxidation reaction zone 22 to produce the objective compound by the reaction of said oxygen complex with said hydrocarbon complex, and the catalyst liquid is circulated in the reaction column. The objective compound can be produced under mild condition at a low cost by the sue of the above hydrocarbon reactor having simple structure.
