PURPOSE: To increase the dry concentration of a liquid specimen by using microwave heating in a vacuum centrifugal concentrator.
CONSTITUTION: The vacuum container of a centrifugal concentrator is closed airtightly by the cover 14 of a box body 15. The inner surface 13 is coated and a link 16 projecting upward from the edge 18 is arranged thereabout to form a seal along with the cover. A metal mesh 25 and a glass cover 24 prevent leakage of microwave. A large number of microfingers 26 are provided on the outer circumference of a cover frame 22 and a microwave seal is formed in the box body 15 in order to prevent microwave. A quarter wavelength trap forms the four side faces of the cover frame 22 and prevents microwave from being leaked through the outer circumference of the cover frame 22. A ferrite microwave absorber is secured to each corner part of the cover frame by means of screws. A vacuum pump is fixed to a container through a vacuum coupling 40. A plurality of microwave slots 68 are arranged on the periphery at the bottom of the container and a waveguide 74 serve as windows for introducing microwave.
