PURPOSE: To prevent the disturbance or jamming of needles within a stapling unit by providing a cartridge controlling means freely engagable with a needle cartridge to prescribe the detachment of the needle cartridge from the stapling unit.
CONSTITUTION: When a needle cartridge 69 is in a state permitted to detach, a cartridge controlling means 91 is separated from needle cartridge 69 to make the needle cartridge 69 detachable from a stapling unit 67. The cartridge prescribing means 91 is separated from the needle cartridge 39 when it detected that the stapling unit 7 is in a needle free state by a needle detection means 69 and the needle cartridge 69 becomes a state detachable from the stapling unit 67. By this constitution, even when the stapling unit 67 is loaded with the needle cartridge 69, the generation of the disturbance or jamming of the needles in the stapling unit is prevented and the reliability of the stapling unit itself is enhanced.
