To provide an apparatus and method for reducing susceptability of an active implantable medical device to medical procedures, such as a magnetic resonance diagnosis.
A feedthrough terminal assembly for an active implantable medical devices (AIMD) (204) has a plurality of leadwires (216) extending from an electronic circuit of the AIMD and a lossy ferrite inductor (200) which passes the leadwires in non-conductive relation, and the lossy ferrite inductor increases the impedance of the leadwires at selected RF frequencies and decreases the magnetic flux core saturation of the lossy ferrite inductor by phase cancellation of signals transmitted by the leadwires. A process for filtering electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the implanted leadwire extending from the AIMD into a body liquid or a body tissue is also provided.
