To solve such a problem that, since thermal conductivity is low in a thermal decomposition container in a process for thermal decomposition of a minced or granular raw material having a moisture content of 5 to 20%, the thermal decomposition process in batch form performed on the raw material results in burning and carbonization to a heterogeneous extent.
Thermal conduction in the thermal decomposition container is virtually improved by approaching a partially or completely burnt synthesis gas at high temperature from both of the outside of the thermal decomposition container (i.e., down draft space between the thermal decomposition container and a hollow cylinder surrounding the container) and the inside (i.e., central funnel) without any moving part.
