PURPOSE: To obtain the subject apparatus, equipped with an evaporator in a conical form having a planar internal surface and a refrigerant passage on the external surface thereof and a vessel of the same shape as that of the aforementioned evaporator, inserted into the evaporator and cooled and having the evaporator and the vessel in an excellent contact state of most area thereof.

CONSTITUTION: The internal surface 13 of an evaporator (4a) is planar and the outer surface 14 thereof is provided with a refrigerant passage 15. The evaporator (4a) is made of roll bond by bending thereof into a conical form (the shape of an earthenware mortar) in which the diameter is large in the upper part and small in the lower part. In producing an ice cream, the vessel (6a) is inserted into the evaporator (4a) to bring the internal surface of the evaporator (4a) into contact with the external surface 14 of the vessel 16 in most area thereof and improve the contact state. Further, a freezing cycle 5 can be operated and stirring blades 9 can be simultaneously rotated with a driving part 7 to produce the ice cream without deteriorating cooling capacity. Furthermore, 1 indicates a compressor; 2 indicates a condenser and 3 indicates a capillary tube in the figure.
