To provide an apparatus for removing and conveying a fiber web at high speed at the outlet from a carder without significant change to the structure of the web, and in particular without stretching the web.
This apparatus comprises a takeoff cylinder 4 adjacent to the last working cylinder 1 of a carder, suction means and a conveyor belt 5. The conveyor belt 5 is interposed between the suction means and the take off cylinder 4 and is permeable to air. The belt 5 passes close to the take off cylinder 4 with a linear speed that is substantially equal to the take off cylinder 4 at least at the level of the take off cylinder 4 and possesses at least one rectilinear web-receiving portion 9 traveling in a direction that is orthogonal to the axis 7 of rotation of the take off cylinder 4. The suction means establish a suction zone between the take off cylinder 4 and the rectilinear web-receiving portion 9 of the conveyor belt 5, substantially in the vicinity of the line where they form an almost tangential line T.
