To provide an apparatus for removing return protrusions from a shape steel, which is capable of effectively removing return protrusions formed on an edge portion of the shape steel, by a simple mechanism construction.

This removing apparatus removes return protrusions formed on an edge portion of a rolled shape steel 1. This apparatus has a brush roll 3 attached to a side guide 6 located on an outlet side of a finished rolling machine, and arranged so as to contact an edge portion of the shape steel 1. A rotational shaft 4 of the brush roll 3 is inclined with respect to an advancing direction of the shape steel 1. Movement of the shape steel 1 causes the brush roll 3 to be rotated, thereby causing a friction force to act on the edge portion of the shape steel 1 along the rotational shaft 4 according to the inclination of the brush roll 3 because the rotational shaft 4 is inclined. This causes the return protrusions to be folded and then removed from the shape steel 1.
