PURPOSE: To improve the contact efficiency of the surface of a packaging material with a sterilizing liquid and to avoid a problem such as sterilization inferiority, by a method wherein a pair of sterilizing liquid flow plates are arranged in close vicinity to each other toward the lower ends thereof and the sterilizing liquid flowing in the gap between the sterilizing liquid flow plates from the upper opening part is stagnated for a definite time between a pair of the sterilizing liquid flow plates.
CONSTITUTION: Each of sterilizing liquid tanks 3a, 3b has such a structure that a pair of plates 3a', 3b' each having a width sufficient to correspond to the width of a strip of packaging material to be sterilized are vertically provided in opposed relation to each other so as to form a taper surface wherein a bottom part gap becomes properly narrow and an upper gap becomes properly wide and the opening parts of both sides thereof are closed by proper plate bodies. A sterilizing liquid is sent to the upper parts of the sterilizing liquid tanks 3a, 3b from a sterilizing liquid tank 2 through a pipe mechanism 6 but, since the inner shape of each of the sterilizing liquid tanks is wide in its upper gap and narrow in its lower gap, the sterilizing liquid is stagnated in the sterilizing liquid tanks 3a, 3b for a necessary time and the sufficient and certain contact of the strip a packing material 9 passing through the sterilizing liquid tanks with the sterilizing liquid is achieved.
