PURPOSE: To obtain a novel organic compound, in high yield, by the oxidization of an organic compound with an oxygen complex catalyst, by using pure oxygen as the oxygen source for forming the oxygen complex, and adjusting the feeding rate of the oxygen complex to the reactor.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen complex catalyst is produced by supplying a circulation catalyst liquid 10 and concentrated oxygen, preferably pure oxygen 1 to the oxygen absorber 2. The pressure drop in the reactor caused by the production of the complex is detected (17), and the flow rate of the pure oxygen is controlled (13) so as to keep the pressure within a predetermined range. The oxygen concentration in the oxygen complex catalyst is detected at the inlet of the reactor 3 with an oxygen concentration controlling means 16, and is adjusted to the level suitable for the oxidation reaction by properly adding a circulating catalyst liquid. The catalyst liquid having controlled oxygen complex concentration is supplied to the reactor 3 to effect the oxidization of the hydrocarbon 6 used as the raw material. The reaction product liquid is sent to the catalyst separation column 4. The crude product is discharged from the top of the column, and the catalyst liquid discharged from the column bottom is circulated (10) to the oxygen absorber 2.
