Abstract:
PURPOSE: To use a specific lactam compound as a pharmaceutically effective substance which exhibits excellent immunoregulatory and immunosuppressive action, is suitable for reduction of neoangiogenase (pathogenic angioma), and is not teratogenic, thus is useful for treating transplantation rejection, lupus erythema, Crohn's disease, etc. CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (X is CH2 , S or Se; R is a 1-6C alkyl or benzsyl; Z and Z' are each different from each other, being each CH2 or CO or both CO) [e.g. 3-methyl-3-(1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6- dione] is used as a pharmaceuticaly effective substance in racemic or in optically active form. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction of a compound of formula II with a basic compound such as butyllithium followed by a 1-6C alkyl halogenide or benzyl halogenide.
