Abstract:
To provide a simple method for keeping fish healthy.SOLUTION: The method comprises feeding or administering a feed containing lactose fructose oligosaccharide (lactosucrose) as an active ingredient to fish to make the fish exert immunostimulatory actions, such as an increase in immunoglobulin level, an increase in lysozyme activity, and an increase in short-chain fatty acid production. As a result, the fish can be raised in a healthy manner, allowing for densely stocked rearing, and bringing tremendous economic benefits. It also increases the number of mucus cells, thereby coating the fish feces with mucus and greatly reducing contamination of the water in aquariums and fish farms. The same applies to fructo-oligosaccharides and galacto-oligosaccharides.SELECTED DRAWING: None
