Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous coating material composition containing a specific polymer aqueous solution and a specific water-soluble epoxy compound in a specified ratio, excellent in adhesivity, dispersibility and smoothness, and useful for coatings, etc.
SOLUTION: This aqueous coating material composition contains (A) a polymer aqueous solution obtained by neutralizing with a volatile organic base a vinylic copolymer having a weight-average mol.wt. of 5000-40000 and obtained by copolymerizing 2-40wt.% of a carboxyl group-containing copolymerizing vinylic monomer produced by the addition reaction of an aliphatic or aromatic dibasic acid anhydride to a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, 3-40wt.% of one or more carboxyl group-containing copolymerizable vinylic monomers and 20-95wt.% of other copolymerizable vinylic monomers, and (B) a water-soluble epoxy compound having a water solubility of ≥50% and a functional group equivalent mol.wt. of ≤300. Therein, the equivalent ratio [(I)/B] of the carboxyl group of the vinylic polymer (I)/the epoxy group of the component B is 0.5-2.
