To provide an aqueous emulsion composition excellent in water resistance, especially boiling water resistance and viscosity stability in standing alone for long time, and to provide an adhesive and a coating agent.

The aqueous emulsion composition comprises (A) fine particles of a polymer composed of at least one monomer unit selected from an ethylenic unsaturated monomer and a diene-based unsaturated monomer unit as principal component, and 0.05-5 wt.%. of unsaturated monomer unit having a silyl group, (B) a vinyl alcohol-based polymer containing 1-10 mol.%. of ethylene unit and (C) a vinyl alcohol-based polymer containing a silyl group, wherein the composition has a solid weight ratio of (B)/(C)=90/10-10/90, (A)/[(B)+(C)]=99/1-80/20. The invention relates to the adhesive and coating agent using the emulsion.
