Abstract:

To provide an aqueous ink composition capable of detecting the ink contained in an ink cartridge with satisfactory accuracy and a method for detecting the ink, and to provide an inkjet printing apparatus capable of notifying a user an operational error detected immediately when the ink cartridge is set at a false position.

In the method for detecting the aqueous ink composition contained in the ink cartridge, a concentration or a type of a reducing sugar included in the aqueous ink composition is measured, and based on the result a residue or the type of the ink composition is determined.
