PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink for inkjet recording, excellent in discharge stability and storage stability of the aqueous ink, especially excellent in quick-drying fixability and image uniformity when an image is formed on a recording medium with low water absorption, and to provide an image forming method using the aqueous ink.SOLUTION: Provided are [1] an aqueous ink for inkjet recording, comprising a pigment, a water-insoluble polymer, an organic solvent (C) and water, where the organic solvent (C) comprises diethylene glycol isopropyl ether (DEGPE) and an organic solvent (c2) having a value of a 1-octanol/water partition coefficient smaller than DEGPE, and a total content of the pigment, the water-insoluble polymer and DEGPE is 5.0 mass% or more, and a value of a total percentage content of the pigment and the water-insoluble polymer multiplied by a percentage content of the DEGPE is 10 to 300; and [2] an image forming method comprising: mounting a container filled with the aqueous ink on an inkjet recorder having ink flight means; and making the ink fly and print on a recording medium whose water absorption during 100 m sec of contact with pure water is 0 to 10 g/m.
