Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the title dispersion having mechanical and thermal stability, excellent in flowability, reduced in foaming and having good storage properties by free radical polymn. of an unsaturated monomer and adding a starch decomposition product obtained by hydrolysis in an aq. phase to the polymn. product.
CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated monomer [pref. comprising a combination of 90-99 wt.% over of (meth)acrylic acid and 1-8C alkanol and/or styrene and 1-10 wt.% of (meth)acrylic acid] is subjected to free radical polymn to produce a polymn. product and at least one starch decomposition product with a wt. average mol.wt. Mw of 2,500-25,000 obtained by hydrolysis in an aq. phase is added to this product to obtain an aq. polymer dispersion. By adding the starch decomposition product, the dispersibility of the formed polymer is enhanced and this dispersion has mechanical and thermal stability and excellent flowability and is reduced in foaming and almost contains no flocs and has good characteristics such as good storage properties.
