Abstract:

To provide an ABS resin-based aqueous resin composition having excellent dispersion stability and forming a film having excellent water resistance.

The aqueous resin composition consists essentially of a water-insoluble polymer (a) containing acrylonitrile/styrene as a principal component, a rubber (b) containing butadiene as a principal component, a water-soluble compound (c) having a cyclic acetal structure and water (d). The mass ratio of each component satisfies the following conditions (a+b)/c/d=1-60/0.01-20/20-98.99. A method for producing the aqueous resin composition is carried out as follows. A solution obtained by dissolving the (a) and (b) in a cycloparaffin and/or a cycloolefin is emulsified and dispersed in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble cyclic acetal compound. The cycloparaffin and/or cycloolefin, as necessary, are distilled off under a vacuum.
