Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject aqueous suspension having excellent stability against separation pi and excellent workability by compounding a solid diacyl- type organic peroxide with a water-soluble microbial polysaccharide, an anionic surfactant and a hydroxide or a carbonate of alkali metal.
CONSTITUTION: This aqueous suspension of a solid diacyl-type organic peroxide is obtained by compounding a solid diacyl-type organic peroxide (dibenzoylperoxide is especially preferable) with a water-soluble microbial polysaccharide, an anionic surfactant (2-ethylhexyl sulfuric acid ester sodium salt is especially preferable) and a hydroxide or a carbonate of alkali metal (a hydroxide is especially preferable). The aqueous suspension is useful as an initiator of polymerization of a styrene, acrylic or ethylene monomer. The aqueous suspension is easily obtained only by dissolving a water soluble microbial polysaccharide [e.g. Rhamzan (R) gum, etc.] in a specified amount of water under stirring, adding the surfactant and the alkali metal salt successively and then putting a specified amount of diacyl-type organic peroxide into the mixture under stirring.
