PURPOSE: To provide a new aromatic diamine compound having excellent heat- resistance and chemical resistance, usable as a raw material for a resin having excellent heat-resistance, chemical resistance, low water-absorption and high cracking resistance as a raw material for polymeric material, a hardener, a modifier, etc.

CONSTITUTION: This aromatic diamine compound is expressed by formula I [at least one of Ri ((i) is l-4) and Rj ((j) is 1-4) is a cycloalkyl and the others are each H, a halogen, a (cyclo)alkyl or an alkoxy; Rn together with bonding C forms an alkylene forming an (alkyl-substituted)4-5C ring or 2,2'-biphenylene], e.g. 1,1bis[3,5-dimethyl-4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]cyclopentane. The compound of formula I can be produced by condensing a compound of formula II with a p-nitrohalobenzene and reducing the resultant corresponding aromatic dinitro compound by conventional method.
