To provide an aromatic methylidene compound as a functional material for an electrophotographic photoreceptor, a functional material such as a charge transport material and a luminescent material for an organic electroluminescent element, or a functional material for an organic semiconductor element; and to provide a method for producing the compound, and the organic electroluminescent element using the compound.
The compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, Ar1 and Ar2 are each an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic group, or an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic heterocyclic group; R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted alkoxy group; n1 is an integer of 0, 1 or 2; R2 and R3 are each hydrogen (with the proviso that a case in which R2 and R3 are simultaneously hydrogen is excluded), an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group (with the proviso that a case in which R2 and R3 are simultaneously an alkyl group is excluded), an unsubstituted or substituted cycloalkyl group (with the proviso that a case in which R2 and R3 are simultaneously a cycloalkyl group is excluded) or an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic group or an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic group (except a pyridyl group); R2 and R3 may jointly form a condensed ring of an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic ring, or a condensed unsubstituted or substituted aromatic heterocyclic ring). The method for producing the compound and the organic electroluminescent element using the compound are also provided.
