PURPOSE: To obtain fibers having irregularly changed cross-sectional area in the fibrous length direction and the coefficient of variation in the cross-sectional area in a specific range, by the melt spinning an aromatic polyamide polymer through a mesh-like spinneret having a specific porosity.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyamide powder is fed to the opposite side of an extrusion surface of a mesh-like spinneret having ≥10% porosity (α) expressed by the formula[(Va) is the apparent total volume occupied by the unit area of the mesh-like part in the spinneret; (Vf) is the total volume of the mesh-like member surrounding the pores in the unit area of the mesh-like part of the spinneret]and adjacent many pores and melt extruded while supplying heat from partition members of the mesh-like spinneret to give the aimed fibers having irregularly changed cross-sectional area along the fibrous length direction and 0.05W1.0 coefficient of variation[CV(F)]in the cross-sectional area in the fibers.
