Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic polyimide retaining a good balance between heat resistance inherent in an aromatic polyimide and mechanical properties and having excellent moldability, containing repeating units represented by a specified structural formula. CONSTITUTION:This aromatic polyimide contains repeating units represented by formula I (wherein -Ar- is a bivalent aromatic residue). As Ar, a group selected from formula II and formula III is desirable. In the formulas, A is O, CO, SO, SO2 or CyH2y (wherein Y is an integer of 1-10), Y is a 1-20C alkyl group, a 7-20C aralkyl group, a 3-20C cycloalkyl group, a 6-20C aryl group, a halogen group or a nitro group, and a, b, c and d are integers of 0-4.
