PURPOSE: To enable easy conversion to a road-surface travel state with a simple operation to enhance the practical usability by providing a self-standing type grounding wheels at a lower part of the body of an article carrying car moving on rails so that the wheels can be outwardly projected or inwardly retreated by a drive mechanism.

CONSTITUTION: This article or load carrying car is used in, for example, a golf links and is made freely movable along rails R with articles being loaded on an article frame 5. Namely, drive wheels 7, 8 are engaged with upper surfaces of the rails R and the car is moved with both sides of each rail R being held by guide rollers 9 to 9. When the car is disengaged from the rails R at a terminal portion Z thereof, a crank 26 is rotated, by a motor 23, in an arrow A indicated direction through the intermediary of an intermeshing between a worm gear 22 and a worm wheel 25 to cause arms 13, 14 to be downwardly swung in opposed manner via rods 27, 27, thereby to cause grounding wheels 11, 12 to be grounded on a road surface. By moving the article carrying car in a direction to cause it to be disengaged from the rails R, it is released from the rails R. Thereafter, the car is traveled using the grounding wheels 11, 12.
