The article is formed of a support obtained by molding a material which can be metallized using an electrodeposition process. In the method for decorating the article, the support is coated with a first metallic coating having at least a part of the surface formed of a metallic layer of n (n≥2) and at least a partially formed decorative pattern, and the surface, corresponding to the decorative pattern, of the support is coated with a second metallic coating formed of a metallic layer of n-1 at the best. The color and/or the appearance of an outside metallic layer of the first metallic coating are different from those of an outside metallic layer of the second metallic coating.
