The article management system includes: a camera 140 taking images of a plurality of storage areas 40 each storing at least one document file 50 out of a storage shelf 30 which can store the plurality of document files 50; and a database 300 storing a rate of inventory relating to confirmation and management states of the plurality of document files 50 stored in the storage shelf 30. The storage area 40 is specified from the image taken by the camera 140 to access the database 300, and the rate of inventory relating the storage area 40 is acquired. Based on the rate of inventory acquired in this procedure, a composite image of the storage area 40 corresponding to the rate of inventory is generated, and the composite image of the storage area 40 generated in this procedure is displayed.
