To provide a flame-retardant artificial hair fiber having excellent slippery touch, combing properties, and antistatic properties specific to a silicone-based fiber processing agent and excellent in flame retardancy, by preventing deterioration in the flame retardancy which is conventionally caused when a flame-retardant polyester fiber, a flame-retardant polyolefin fiber, a flame-retardant polyamide fiber, etc., is processed only by a common silicone-based fiber processing agent for the purpose of improving slippery touch, a feeling, etc.
This flame-retardant artificial hair fiber is formed by adhering a flame-retardant silicone-based fiber processing agent to a flame-retarded polyester fiber, a flame-retarded polyolefin fiber, a flame-retarded polyamide fiber, etc., of which the each is obtained by being together molten and kneaded with a flame retardant, wherein the flame-retardant silicone-based fiber processing agent contains an organosilicon compound, etc., in which a bromine-containing organic group and/or a chlorine-containing organic group are bonded to silicon atoms through carbon atoms. Thus, the flame-retardant artificial hair fiber which is excellent in the slippery touch, the combing properties, the antistatic properties, and the flame retardancy is obtained.
