PURPOSE: To provide an artificial lacrima useful for dry eye patients, contact lens users and opthalmopathy patients, excellent in solubility in water, biocompatibility, bactericidal characteristics, etc., by using a specific peptide as an essential ingredient.

CONSTITUTION: This artificial lacrima contains a hydrolyzed collagen peptide, e.g. one having 800-5000 average molecular weight, and further, preferably, a chitosan hydrolyzed component having 1000-8000 molecular weight. Here, the objective lacrima can contain a usual buffer agent, an osmotic pressure keeping agent, an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory agent, etc.
