The artificial nail has a shape in which an edge side (12) from a base part (11) to an end part (14) is smoothly curved into an almost U shape viewed on a floor plan. The edge side (12) comes into contact with a flat plane at three points, two points (13a, 13b) on both side of the base part (11) and the tip part (14), in total when mounted on the flat plane with a surface of the artificial nail upward, and is curved upward so that a gap of maximum height (H) of 0.3 mm or larger from the flat plane in a side view is formed between the respective two points (13a, 13b) on the base part (11) side and the end part (14). The maximum height (H) of the gap is preferably placed (1) within an area nearer to the base part (11) side just for a half distance (L') of the length (L) of the artificial nail from the end part (14) of the artificial nail.
