To obtain expected decorative appearance while preventing a trouble such as the discoloration of a decorative layer and to achieve wt. reduction as a whole while keeping definite strength by arranging a barrier layer between the decorative layer and a base material layer.
In this artificial stone 10 constituted by laminating at least one or more layer on one surface of a decorative layer and further laminating at least one resin-containing base material layer thereon, a barrier layer 14 is arranged between the decorative layer 12 and the base layer 15. This barrier layer 14 is formed by using a resinous film or sheet composed of a material having gas barrier capacity, for example, high density polyethylene and a transparent or colored film or sheet can be utilized. By this constitution, for example, when a resin used in the base material layer 15 contains a phenol resin, a gas component generated when the resin is cured can be cut off by the barrier layer 14. The possibility generating yellowing in the decorative layer 12 can be avoided.
