Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound which has an inhibitory activity against cholesterol biosynthesis and is useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of hyperpyohemia, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The new compound is a compound of formula I (wherein (n) is 0 or 1; (m) is 1 or 2; (p) is 0 or 1; A is a single bond, 1-17C alkylene, 2-17C alkenylene or the like; W1 and W2 are each H, or W1 and W2 bond together to form a C-C bond; X is carbonyl or sulfonyl; Y is O, S or the like; R1-R6 are each H, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, phenyl or the like; R7 is H, halogen, alkyl or the like; R8 and R9 are each H or alkyl; R10 is H, 3-6C cycloalkyl or the like; and X is sulfonyl or the like), e.g. 1-(4-chlorobenzoyl)-4-[4-(2- oxazolin-2-yl)benzylidene]piperidine. The compound of formula I is obtained by allowing a compound of formula II (wherein R12 is 1-10C alkyl) to react with a compound of formula III in a solvent (e.g. methanol), if required, in the presence of a hydrogen halide bonding agent (e.g. triethylamine) at 0 to 100°C.
