To provide a disaster preventing ashtray capable of automatically detecting a fire and extinguishing the fire caused in a cigarette placing part of the ashtray or around the ashtray.

This ashtray has the cigarette placing part in the upper part. The ashtray is equipped with a fire extinguishing means capable of scattering water in a prescribed direction, a first heat detecting means embedded under the cigarette placing part and second heat detecting means provided on the lateral face of the ashtray. The ashtray is further provided with a controlling means for controlling the fire extinguishing means on the basis of a signal transmitted from the first or second heat detecting means.
