To obtain an asphalt composition having high mechanical strength and high low-temperature viscosity, etc., high stability, and desirable in workability and Cantabor Test loss factor, and useful as a pavement on roadways, airport runways or the like, by including a specific polymeric modifier and an oil-gelling agent.
This asphalt composition with high toughness, tenacity and low-temperature (60°C) viscosity is obtained by incorporating asphalt with, based on the whole composition, (A) 1-20 wt.% of a polymeric modifier comprising a 2-chloro-1,3-butadiene-based polymer and/or 2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene-based polymer (esp. latex) and (B) 0.1-5 wt.% of an oil-gelling agent (in particular, 1, 3: 2,4-dibenzylidene sorbitol and/or 1, 3: 2, 4-dibenzylidene xylitol).
