Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an asphalt emulsion excellent in emulsion stability, miscibili ty with aggregates, decomposition time control, adhesive properties peeling prevention effects, strengths, durability, etc., by adding gallic acid and/or its deriv to an aq. asphalt emulsion.
SOLUTION: This asphalt emulsion is prepd by incorporating 0.01-10.0 pts.wt cationic, monionic, acinoin, or amphoteric surfactant and 0.001-5.0 pts.wt. gallic acid and/or its deriv. into 100 pts.wt. component comprising 40-80 pts.wt. asphalt and 60-20 pts.wt. water. Gallic acid is 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid obtds by hydrolyzing tannic acid, and the deriv. means an ester such as a methyl, ethyl, or stearyl ester, an amide, an ether, etc.
